Those who prefer sit-down dining are pleased to know the venue has several on-site restaurants offering a more refined atmosphere. The main racing season spans from mid-summer to early fall, with a second session taking place in late fall and early winter. You'll normally find a racing event taking place on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, though weekday possibilities are more likely in the summer season.

When you're looking to shop, visit Del Mar Plaza, a high-end plaza located in the heart of the community. This buzzy shopping village provides gourmet eateries, specialty boutiques, and a high-end salon. Its well-maintained streets are dog-friendly, so be sure to bring your pup along for a stroll. Beyond the plaza, there are various high-end boutiques and specialty stores offering a curated selection of fine products.
 
For seafood and steak, try Jake's Del Mar, a waterside restaurant boasting some of California’s most gorgeous views. This restaurant offers seafood chowder, shrimp scampi, Sumac-crusted Norwegian salmon, filet mignon, and pan-roasted half chicken.
Adelaide is a delightful spot for breakfast. Indulge yourself with a hearty breakfast burrito, avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, eggs with bacon and hashbrowns, or eggs benedict. If you visit for lunch or dinner, try the grilled scallion hummus, ahi chop salad, Adelaide burger, or steak frites.

The Del Mar Dog Beach is a great spot to take your pet. Here, your canine companion can frolic and play to their heart's desire. Afterward, make your way over to the Torrey Pines State Reserve Extension for some hiking. As you traverse your way to the top, you’ll uncover stunning views of the water and California’s diverse flora and fauna.

The major event in town is the San Diego County Fair, located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. People from all over attend this festival, which features rides, food, games, and activities. It typically takes place in June.
